Thanksgiving Thursday

Thanksgiving Thursday is a time to be thankful for what you have in your life...even when you are having a really bad week, take a minute and reflect on the good. I have no ambition to do this every Thursday, but I will strive to take the time to pause and reflect and remember the good things in life that I am thankful for.
Today I am thankful for...
Mr. Hubs. I am turning 30 this month and I have not been excited. During date night last week Mr. Hubs tells me that for my birthday he is sending me and a friend to Dallas for the weekend. It took some convincing and about 20 minutes later I finally believed him. My friend and I are leaving on Friday and coming back on Sunday. Mr. Hubs is taking on all 3 kids by himself so I can have a few days away. The thing I'm most excited about? Sleeping all night! While I do feel a little guilty about leaving him with all 3 kids, I am more excited. He always does really good gifts, but I think this is the best one yet.
Today. Today is the first day in a week or more that I don't have a thing I have to do. I don't have to go anywhere, do anything or get out of my pj's if I don't want to. I'm really excited about this. This past few weeks have been insane and there has been something to do daily. So, I am going to be lazy and enjoy this quiet day with my boys. I have traded my pj's for some leggings though :)

Hurt So Good

Ever done something that hurts, is hard, and you want to quit, but when you are done it feels so good??? That's how this week has gone for me. This week on my fitness tour brought me to Revved Fitness.  And it hurt so good.
Revved is almost identical to Orangetheory. They do a combination of cardio and strength. You wear a heart rate monitor and the goal is to to elevate your heart rate and work in certain zones. The only difference I noticed is that Revved uses stationary bikes for cardio and Orangetheory uses treadmills.
Revved offers a 7 day trial for $10. I signed up online and went to my first class Monday morning. Monday morning came and was stormy, early, and a line was almost out the door when I arrived. Yikes! I signed in and wandered into the room. It was a BIG class. All the bikes were full, and there were people on rowers and the strength area. The trainer split us in half. Half the class started with strength the other half started with cardio. I got in the strength …

Potty Mouth

You would think I would be referring to myself or Mr. Mayer. But, no. I'm talking about the precocious little girl that lives in this house.
"I cleaned my room damn good."
Wait. What? That was the sentence Diva told me a few weeks ago when I asked her if she had cleaned her room. I was in shock. Mr. Mayer was stifling a laugh. Diva was dead serious.
A few days after that she came downstairs and told me to "Tell those damn boys to leave my damn toys alone." Apparently her brother's were messing with her Barbies.
We have also had the occasional "damn it" when she drops something or spills something. It was super embarrassing when we were at Target and she dropped a toy in the toy department and said "damn it." Thankfully there was no one around to hear her.
Diva's um...creative (?) vocabulary started as soon as she started speaking. She has always used big words, whether she knew what they meant or not. Mr. Mayer and I are totally to b…

Taking Back Summer

I am a professional at over scheduling and doing too much. I have really been working on this and trying to simplify my life a little. I have been focusing on meaningful relationships and moments, and taking more of a quality over quantity approach to life lately. It has been hard, but has been so worth it. Summer has been a perfect test to my efforts. Last summer I worked and when I wasn't working I had a "fun activity" scheduled. We were so scheduled and busy that we lost the "fun" part somewhere along the way. Mr. Mayer and I took a long weekend together last summer and I was so tired from our "easy summer" that I just wanted to sleep the whole time. That's not fun.

This summer we have played with our neighbors and cousins, swam and slept in. The kids get to pick two camps they can do. The boys had one in June and another one in July. #1 didn't want to do any camps other than her cheer camps she has to do, and I am not making her. We have h…
