JeRk FaCe

Ugh....yesterday kicked my tail. It was not one of those happy, smiling, I love my kids kinda day. The Dudes were screaming every .05 seconds and were total jerk face's. I may have said a few other choice words yesterday as well :/  I was about to lose my mind. We tried to meet Mr. Mayer for lunch. Unfortunately we turned into "those" people and had to make a hasty exit before the Dudes head started spinning and vomit spewing forth. It was not pretty. I'm pretty sure I heard applause when we were leaving. Ugh....this parenting thing is not for the weak. And, it is not all sunshine and roses like the Internet would leave one to believe....because they can't put anything on the Internet that isn't true....hahahaha...love that commercial. Whoops. Getting off track.  So....this past weekend I had a girls weekend with my friend DJ. We went to see P!nk in concert in Dallas. I love P!nk. And....BEST CONCERT EVER. We had a fantastic time. A couple of other friends

Dryer Balls

I found a this little gem when I was browsing Pinterest one day. I thought it looked super easy and seemed to be a great idea. I hadn't used fabric softener in 6 years. These would be fantastic. I promptly bought my wool yarn and pantyhose. Then I waited a week and finally got around to making my balls. Easy Peasy. It was late last night so I threw my balls into the wash this morning. I had a doctor's appointment this morning so when I got home from that I took the balls out of the washer and..... Oh dear.....something went wrong. They DO NOT look like the other picture. Fail. Maybe I didn't roll it tight enough? I don't know. I have said before that I love to be crafty. In my mind I am a do it all kinda gal. In reality my projects usually look like a Kindergartner did them. This is no exception. I'll be having a redo on this project.

Girls...

I am linking up with Oklahoma Women Bloggers this evening and honoring my girlfriends. I have been blessed beyond measure in the friend department. I currently have a core group of girlfriends that I am convinced I would go completely crazy without. Growing up it was no different. I lived in the same house from the moment I was adopted until I went away to college. I went to the same public school in a small town in Southern Oklahoma. The benefit to that is that I knew the same kids from Kindergarten into adulthood. I was best friends with those kids from Kindergarten until adulthood. That cannot ever be replaced. My group of girlfriends affectionately called ourselves the "Fat Girls." Hahaha...weird, right? Where did the name come from? We were Seniors in High School. It was a few months from Prom and we all decided that we wanted to get in shape for Prom. We started doing Russell Simmons workout videos after school a few times a week. As I recall it was a lot of laying aro

Valencetimes Day Prep

Valencetimes Day. That's what Diva calls it. I like the sound of it. It makes me smile when I hear it. So...I have mentioned over at Oklahoma Women's Bloggers that this year I wasn't doing it. I wasn't stressing about VDay and I wasn't making Valentine's cards. That does not exempt me from treats however. The Dudes are in a Mother's Day Out program. They are having a party on Thursday. I never seem to sign up in time and I am always stuck with the little "take home treat" bags. Ugh. Recently I was on Pinterest and came across a Toddler Valentine Snack Mix   Super cute. I pinned it not knowing when or if I would ever use it. That's the problem with Pinterest . I only use a fraction of what I pin. So, when I got around to signing up for the party and saw that I would yet again be doing the treat bags I immediately thought of this snack mix. Perfect! I read the recipe and directions on the link and headed to Target. Mine is a slight variation of

Beets

I love beets. Always have. I was raised on canned beets. As I have grown and gotten more skilled at cooking I have adventured into fresh beets. Last night I tried roasting them. I roast a lot of vegetables. Everyone in my house really loves broccoli, sweet potatoes, parsnips, carrots, cauliflower, etc. you get the idea...I had three large, beautiful fresh beets. I was so excited. We do Meatless Mondays most weeks  so I served the beets with Pearl Couscous and made a something out of Marscapone cheese and added salt, pepper, basil and thyme to it. It was nice to dip a beet in. We all sat down to dinner. Mr. Mayer and I dove right in. Diva curled her nose up. All 3 kids put a bite in their mouths and spit it out. They hated it. Sigh. They still think Dino Nuggets are fine cuisine. Roasted Beets Fresh beets (I used 3 large) Olive Oil Salt Pepper Quantity depends on your taste Preheat oven to 400. Peel beets with a vegetable peeler. Dice beets into bite size pieces. Place on b

Numb

Carter has been near the point of intolerable the past few days. Screaming, crying, being mean, massive temper tantrums, the works (if anyone has any suggestions please share) . It's been rough around here. Last night at bedtime it was similar to something out of the Exorcist. We had a house full of people here for Diva's birthday. They all left pretty quickly. It's been as bad or worse than it was a few weeks ago when I shared my trip to my parents house. His brother has gotten the brunt of his anger and taken some beatings the past few days. This morning Carter's temper has been much the same. *Sigh* So this morning the guys were upstairs watching "Meeeekeeey Mooouuusssseeee!" Ahhh....a few minutes of peace. I love that mouse. I hadn't heard a peep. After about 30 minutes Owen started crying and came downstairs. He was limping. My first thought was they tyrant upstairs had clocked him with a truck. He was saying "Feet! Feet! Hurt!" He crawls

Picking My Battles

Anyone who knows me knows that I am pretty relaxed in the wardrobe department. I mean. We've all seen what I let Olivia leave the house wearing. I believe that clothing is a form of self expression. There are times I put my foot down and pick what the kids wear, but for the most part I am let them express themselves. And, to be honest, sometimes it's just not worth the battle. Tonight we went and met some friends for dinner. And this happened.... Yup, that's #3 wearing his sister's purple faux fur shrug. He thought he was hot stuff. He was happy and in a good mood. Who was I to rock the boat? He liked wearing it. It wasn't worth the fight.

Candy Land and Picnics

What a weekend!!! Whew! Thursday Olivia was sent home from school vomiting. She vomited twice and was otherwise perfectly fine. I was nervous because her birthday party was scheduled for Saturday. She didn't go to school on Friday, but was back to her normal self. Party was on!! Saturday morning we all get up. I had a lot of things to do before the party at 12:30. The kids were sitting at the table and Mr. Mayer had just sat their breakfast down when Owen threw up. Everywhere. Gross. Well....dang it. Mr. Mayer and I decided that there was no way we could let Owen go to the party. Mr. Mayer would stay home with him and I would take the other two with me. I took Olivia and Carter with me that morning while I ran my errands. We came home so Olivia could get dressed and I could fix her hair. That kid has crazy hair. Then we were off again. One of the hardest things I have ever done was leave the house with Owen crying because he couldn't go with us. The party was a success! She
