Sweatin'

A couple of months ago I bought a deal off of Living Social. It was for 3 infrared body wraps at a local tanning salon. I watched some You Tube videos on it and my curiosity was peaked. I've had this deal for a while and finally got around to scheduling my first session this week. They had an opening for Thursday so I took it. I was told to bring a change of clothes with me that were loose and long sleeved. Absolutely no metal. I went in for my appointment with no clue what to expect. The girl helping me was super nice. She led me to a small room and told me I could go ahead and get changed and I would probably want to go to the bathroom. Okay. I can do that. After I had changed into my loose fitting long sleeved clothes she had me get onto a bed where she wrapped my butt, belly, arms and legs in some wraps with cords attached. She went over all the safety instructions and said I could read, look at my phone, nap, whatever, I just can't walk around or lay on my sides or belly. Basically I had to lay flat on the bed for an hour. Ugh. I am not a still person. I am always doing something. So she turned me on and left the room. I laid there and read a magazine I brought with me. About 5 minutes in I started getting warm. After about 10 minutes I was really warm. The girl came back to check on me and see how I was doing. She brought me a bottle of water and turned on a fan. Whew! A little relief. After about 15 minutes I was sweating. Not glistening or having a light sweat. I was starting to pour buckets. Wow! That was unexpected. Another strange thing was happening. I felt very relaxed. I even closed my eyes for a little bit. So, I laid there in my pool of sweat completely relaxed. The girl came in about every 10 minutes to check on me. I guess to make sure I didn't fry or keel over dead or something horrible. My hour went by much quicker than I expected. I was a little sad I was done. Now I knew that I had been sweating. I could feel it on my neck. When I stood up to change my pants were wet, my shirt was wet and the sheets were soaked where I had been laying. Wetter than I am after a spin class. Um....gross. Sorry about that. Does everyone sweat so much? Sheesh. I had to run home after my appointment and change my underwear because those were soaked too. I didn't think to bring extra drawers! The girl told me that my skin might be red. It's not burned, that's just where the blood had been brought to the surface. No kidding. I look like I have been whipped. There are just bands of bright red on my skin. She also said that I needed to drink lots of water during the day. And, if I started to get a headache I should drink some Gatorade or Coconut Water. Wow....okay. Water. Electrolytes for a headache. Okay. I can do this. I have drank a ton of water today. Tonight I have a dull headache. We have no Gatorade in the house. I'm pretty sure I have never drank coconut water. Oh well. I'll go to bed soon. The rest of today I have felt very relaxed and kinda....um....worn out? I'm not sure how to describe it other than worn out. It's weird. I have two more left on my Living Social deal. I'm going back Saturday. I'm curious to see if I sweat as much. And if I have any results from this.

You can't see my pants, but those are wet too.

  1. IDK if I could lay still on my back that long... I am NOT a back sleeper! Sounds disgustingly fun :)

Hurt So Good

Ever done something that hurts, is hard, and you want to quit, but when you are done it feels so good??? That's how this week has gone for me. This week on my fitness tour brought me to Revved Fitness.  And it hurt so good.
Revved is almost identical to Orangetheory. They do a combination of cardio and strength. You wear a heart rate monitor and the goal is to to elevate your heart rate and work in certain zones. The only difference I noticed is that Revved uses stationary bikes for cardio and Orangetheory uses treadmills.
Revved offers a 7 day trial for $10. I signed up online and went to my first class Monday morning. Monday morning came and was stormy, early, and a line was almost out the door when I arrived. Yikes! I signed in and wandered into the room. It was a BIG class. All the bikes were full, and there were people on rowers and the strength area. The trainer split us in half. Half the class started with strength the other half started with cardio. I got in the strength …

That's Gonna Hurt

HEY Y'ALL!!!! It's me again!! hahahahaha....life has a way of zipping by, doesn't it? Life has been going by at warp speed around here. I'm still working. I only regret it twice a week :( I would by lying if I said I didn't miss being at home. I miss the day to day stuff, and I hate paying a babysitter. It breaks my heart when one of the kids tell me they miss me, or they wish I didn't work. However, the extra income is nice. Seeing Mr. Mayer not as stressed about finances is nice, and I feel like I am contributing.
My main reason for getting a job remains. I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder. Considering my genetic makeup if that's all that I have, I'm okay with it. I was medicated for a long time. I stopped taking my medications two years ago and have been able to keep a handle on myself for a long time. However, I had a bad month in December. Besides the normal Christmas stress, my wheels were stolen, which added another…

Let Me Catch My Breathe....

Hey! Hey! Hey! My fitness tour is still going strong :) I am pretty confident I will be able to at least make it to vacation time doing free, or discounted classes around town. Then I can make my final decision on what I want to stick with. The last two weeks have taught me that my fitness level has gone way down....I am not as strong as I thought I was. Maybe gone down isn't the right word. Maybe, more like, I'm nuts and had a skewed perception of my fitness level....maybe I was never as fit as I thought I was??? All these classes are giving me a dose of reality.
This week I started off strong with CycleBar. Now. I LOVE spin classes. My friend, Jeff, started teaching spin a million years ago, and I took my first spin class with him in 2011. He has always been my favorite instructor and I compare every other class to him. Every one. So, on a scale of 1-Jeff how did I like Cycle Bar...I'll admit, it was at an 8 or 9. Maybe if the instructor and I were friends outside of cla…
