Sweatin'

A couple of months ago I bought a deal off of Living Social. It was for 3 infrared body wraps at a local tanning salon. I watched some You Tube videos on it and my curiosity was peaked. I've had this deal for a while and finally got around to scheduling my first session this week. They had an opening for Thursday so I took it. I was told to bring a change of clothes with me that were loose and long sleeved. Absolutely no metal. I went in for my appointment with no clue what to expect. The girl helping me was super nice. She led me to a small room and told me I could go ahead and get changed and I would probably want to go to the bathroom. Okay. I can do that. After I had changed into my loose fitting long sleeved clothes she had me get onto a bed where she wrapped my butt, belly, arms and legs in some wraps with cords attached. She went over all the safety instructions and said I could read, look at my phone, nap, whatever, I just can't walk around or lay on my sides or belly. Basically I had to lay flat on the bed for an hour. Ugh. I am not a still person. I am always doing something. So she turned me on and left the room. I laid there and read a magazine I brought with me. About 5 minutes in I started getting warm. After about 10 minutes I was really warm. The girl came back to check on me and see how I was doing. She brought me a bottle of water and turned on a fan. Whew! A little relief. After about 15 minutes I was sweating. Not glistening or having a light sweat. I was starting to pour buckets. Wow! That was unexpected. Another strange thing was happening. I felt very relaxed. I even closed my eyes for a little bit. So, I laid there in my pool of sweat completely relaxed. The girl came in about every 10 minutes to check on me. I guess to make sure I didn't fry or keel over dead or something horrible. My hour went by much quicker than I expected. I was a little sad I was done. Now I knew that I had been sweating. I could feel it on my neck. When I stood up to change my pants were wet, my shirt was wet and the sheets were soaked where I had been laying. Wetter than I am after a spin class. Um....gross. Sorry about that. Does everyone sweat so much? Sheesh. I had to run home after my appointment and change my underwear because those were soaked too. I didn't think to bring extra drawers! The girl told me that my skin might be red. It's not burned, that's just where the blood had been brought to the surface. No kidding. I look like I have been whipped. There are just bands of bright red on my skin. She also said that I needed to drink lots of water during the day. And, if I started to get a headache I should drink some Gatorade or Coconut Water. Wow....okay. Water. Electrolytes for a headache. Okay. I can do this. I have drank a ton of water today. Tonight I have a dull headache. We have no Gatorade in the house. I'm pretty sure I have never drank coconut water. Oh well. I'll go to bed soon. The rest of today I have felt very relaxed and kinda....um....worn out? I'm not sure how to describe it other than worn out. It's weird. I have two more left on my Living Social deal. I'm going back Saturday. I'm curious to see if I sweat as much. And if I have any results from this.

You can't see my pants, but those are wet too.

  1. IDK if I could lay still on my back that long... I am NOT a back sleeper! Sounds disgustingly fun :)

What She Wore Wednesday

It's Wednesday again- already! It's a rainy kind of day. Diva was in a pretty good mood this morning. That always helps. As usual she dressed herself. Nothing wild, she picked out a dress. She is a ham though when it comes to having her picture taken.

Dress: Thrift Store find (she wanted the ties tied in the front instead of the back)
Not pictured is her footwear. She chose white dress shoes from Target.

Nana Karen's Red Sauce and Meatballs~ Oh My!

When I am in the mood for comfort food my mind immediately goes to Spaghetti and Meatballs. It has been my favorite for as long as I can remember. My version of the dish consists of jarred sauce and ground beef or frozen meatballs because I didn't know how to make meatballs.
Enter Nana Karen. When I was pregnant with Shrek and Donkey there wasn't much I could do the further along I got. Nana Karen would come over about once a week and make dinner and help me with whatever. She was a God send. It was an enormous help. One of the things she would make was Spaghetti and Meatballs. Wow! She made homemade sauce and from scratch meatballs. Every time I eat this dish I am in heaven.
Nana Karen is an old school cook. She doesn't measure anything and makes everything from memory. A few weeks ago she found a pasta maker that her and I have been playing with and making homemade pasta. If you have never had homemade pasta it is divine! She came over today to make some pasta. While she…

I Just Taught Myself How To Add Pictures To My Blog...

It's about time I figured it out.
We went and stayed with family over New Year's. Diva rode a horse and a big green tractor.

She thought she was a VERY big deal getting to ride Goldie on New Year's Day

Mr. Hubs dabbles in photography. He never gives himself enough credit. He had to watch Shrek and Donkey for a few hours this weekend. This is how he spent his time...
