WhooHoo!!

So...the day arrived. It's been months in the making. We had one VERY excited little girl. Diva got to go to the Taylor Swift concert. Diva LOVES Taylor Swift. She tells people that Taylor is her sister and she can sing most of the songs word for word from memory. Diva had a new "costume" to wear. Aunt Bets and I went and picked up Amy and Akelah and we went to dinner~sushi. Another very exciting event. They even had kid sushi and kid chopsticks. Very exciting! After dinner we head to the BOK Center with our tickets in hand. Diva made sure that I let her carry her own ticket inside. We go and find our seats. Then Diva and I go for another potty run (does every one's 4 year old pee every 5 minutes!). The line was long. Diva had to go VERY BAD. She was dancing and jumping and doing everything in her power not to pee her pants. Those that know me know that we have really struggled with potty training and Diva peeing in her pants. Her trying to hold it and not pee her pants is a very big deal. Needless to say that as the line inched along and we made our way into the bathroom she had to go really bad. There was one woman in front of us. She kept making faces at Diva and I and Diva's jumping around. The woman looks at Diva and says "We all have to go to the bathroom." I look at the woman and tell Diva that if her dancing helps her not pee her pants that is just fine. It's a long line and I know that she has to go really bad. I mean really lady! Would it have killed you to let a little girl go in front of you?! Or, at least not been hateful to her?! Jeez. After our potty break Diva talks me into getting her some cotton candy. Later it was a flashy light. A really obnoxious flashily light. The concert starts and there is one very excited little girl. Her favorite song is "Mean." Every time she started to play a new song Diva would ask "is this the Someday song?" That's what she calls "Mean." It was a huge moment! Now...about 1 1/2 hours maybe 2 into the concert Diva hits her wall. Complete with crying and "I miss my Daddy" and "I want to go home." She goes to bed early (7:30) and I knew this was going to be a very late night for her. We wait another 30ish minutes and leave at the pause between the final song and the encore. She is asleep in her car seat before we make it to Amy and Akelah's house (they live very close). We make it home and Daddy meets us in the driveway to carry her upstairs. We change her clothes and tuck her in. This morning we had to wake her up for school. We had forewarned her teacher that she was going to have a very late night. She was very subdued this morning and extremely groggy. I felt a little bad about sending her to school today. However, Mr. Mayer and I thought it would be setting a bad precedent if we didn't send her. I know she's 4, but I want to establish a good foundation. Maybe I am eccentric. I'm anxious to hear about how her day goes.
Just started...

Hurt So Good

Ever done something that hurts, is hard, and you want to quit, but when you are done it feels so good??? That's how this week has gone for me. This week on my fitness tour brought me to Revved Fitness.   And it hurt so good. Revved is almost identical to Orangetheory. They do a combination of cardio and strength. You wear a heart rate monitor and the goal is to to elevate your heart rate and work in certain zones. The only difference I noticed is that Revved uses stationary bikes for cardio and Orangetheory uses treadmills. Revved offers a 7 day trial for $10. I signed up online and went to my first class Monday morning. Monday morning came and was stormy, early, and a line was almost out the door when I arrived. Yikes! I signed in and wandered into the room. It was a BIG class. All the bikes were full, and there were people on rowers and the strength area. The trainer split us in half. Half the class started with strength the other half started with cardio. I got in the stre

Nana Karen's Red Sauce and Meatballs~ Oh My!

When I am in the mood for comfort food my mind immediately goes to Spaghetti and Meatballs. It has been my favorite for as long as I can remember. My version of the dish consists of jarred sauce and ground beef or frozen meatballs because I didn't know how to make meatballs. Enter Nana Karen. When I was pregnant with Shrek and Donkey there wasn't much I could do the further along I got. Nana Karen would come over about once a week and make dinner and help me with whatever. She was a God send. It was an enormous help. One of the things she would make was Spaghetti and Meatballs. Wow! She made homemade sauce and from scratch meatballs. Every time I eat this dish I am in heaven. Nana Karen is an old school cook. She doesn't measure anything and makes everything from memory. A few weeks ago she found a pasta maker that her and I have been playing with and making homemade pasta. If you have never had homemade pasta it is divine!  She came over today to make some pasta. While s

Potty Mouth

You would think I would be referring to myself or Mr. Mayer. But, no. I'm talking about the precocious little girl that lives in this house. "I cleaned my room damn good." Wait. What? That was the sentence Diva told me a few weeks ago when I asked her if she had cleaned her room. I was in shock. Mr. Mayer was stifling a laugh. Diva was dead serious. A few days after that she came downstairs and told me to "Tell those damn boys to leave my damn toys alone." Apparently her brother's were messing with her Barbies. We have also had the occasional "damn it" when she drops something or spills something. It was super embarrassing when we were at Target and she dropped a toy in the toy department and said "damn it." Thankfully there was no one around to hear her. Diva's um...creative (?) vocabulary started as soon as she started speaking. She has always used big words, whether she knew what they meant or not. Mr. Mayer and I are totally
